Hormone-Balancing Pickled Radish Recipe

Updated: Jul 15, 2024

What a great year for radishes! We grew so many in our community garden plot and they were HUGE. So I took them home to turn into a hormone-balancing pickle recipe.

Rashises are great support for the liver which helps detox used up hormones out of the body. This is especially helpful for people with estrogen-dominance which tends to build up in the liver. Pickeling radishes adds an extra bonus for the gut which also influences homrones, yeast production , and supports the immune system. Add booster foods like garlic, cumin, and dill is not only great for the taste, but helps your digestive system and immune system as well.

Glass mason jar filled with pink pickled radishes

Recipe

In a clean glass jar, combine:

2 pounds of radishes, sliced thinly

2 sprigs of fresh dill, or 1 tsp dried dill

2 small cloves of garlic, crushed

2 bay leaves

1 tsp mustard seeds

1/2 tsp cumin seeds

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

For the brine, combine in a small sauce pan:

1.25 cups water

1/3 cup apple cider vinegar

1 TB honey

1.5 tsp unrefined salt

Stir on low to medium heat until ingredients are dissolved. Discard any foam and pour the brine over the mixture in the jar. Cover. Let cool to room temperature, then place in the fridge for 24 hours to one week. The longer it sits, the more intense the flavor. Keep in the fridge for a few weeks and enjoy!
